The Top 5 Things You Need to Know About New Vaping Regulations in New Zealand 2024

As you might've noticed in the media, the government just dropped some news about the upcoming vaping rules. Here are the Top 5 Key points:

  • Requirements for reusable/pod vaping devices to have child-lock mechanisms and removable batteries are extended from 21st March until 1st October 2024
  • Disposables/single-use devices will be banned in New Zealand - date pending.
  • The maximum nicotine strength allowed for pods and e-liquid products is 28.5mg/mL / 2.85%
  • Please keep in mind its 28.5 mg/mL Nicotine only; nicotine salts products are still available up to 50 mg/mL ( 5% )strength as far as they contain no more than 28.5 mg/ml nicotine.
  • Flavor names and variants of vaping products can only be from an approved list. (for example vanish of name  "Ice", "Cola", "bubblegum" etc.)
  • The use of graphics such as cartoons or representing toys on vaping products is prohibited.

WHAT THIS MEANS

Devices without a child lock, automatic switch off and a removable battery can be sold until later this year.
